Santiago G. O’Farrell had an outstanding civic performance, holding positions as political leader and legislator. In professional practice, he was recognized for his qualities as a jurist, speaker, educator, literary, and humanist, but more important is his constant recognition as a man of wise and prudent advice.
Mr Santiago Gregorio O’Farrell founded his legal firm “O’Farrell and Klappenbach”.
The firm advises Ford Motor Company in Argentina – with which it continues to work until today- on the opening of its first subsidiary in South America.
The firm intervenes in the constitution of key companies for the industrialization and growth of the country, such as The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, John Deere, Sherwin Williams, Otis, among others.
O’Farrell represents Ferrocarril Oeste and other railway companies, from their investment by British capitals to their nationalization in 1946.
The firm is established in the emblematic building of Av. De Mayo, built in 1890, which preserves the carved wood, marble and original details of the beginning of the century.
O’Farrell represents Ford in the merger with Volkswagen for the creation of Autolatina, a company formed by the two leading automotive companies in Argentina and Brazil, becoming a milestone in the development of the automotive industry.
During the early 90s, O’Farrell advises on the deregulation and privatization of almost all public services – electricity, gas, water, telephony, and infrastructure. Some of the companies he worked with at that time were: Telefonica, Gas Natural Ban (now Naturgy), Duke, Iberdrola, Chilgener, The National Grid Company, CMS, Telefe, Atlantic Richfield, Transener, among others.
O’Farrell increases its activity in the energy area (Electric Power, and Oil and Gas), advising numerous public service providers and investors.
During this period, we advise Pampa Energia in all its investments related to electricity generation, transportation, and distribution.
O’Farrell is part of the co-founder committee of the Clearing House Probono Commission, created by the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires, of which it takes part.
O’Farrell advises YPF in its investments in Vaca Muerta, the purchase of the assets in Argentina of Petrolera Apache and the association with Petronas.
